    Do NOT watch Blue Velvet
Watching it was nothing more than disturbing.
At least we can see eye to eye on Tarantino :)

And I love, love, love singing this one:

    Sinatra: "Violets for your Furs"

Barry Manilow (yes!) did a really nice cover of this.

More, more! Mrs Thing, you've got wonderful music taste|

It would be nice to have a better cover of Blue Velvet. That one kind of scrapes the insides of my ear canals.

On my very short list of favorite lullabies:

    I'll Take You Dreaming

Sorry about the lousy video--we've got company coming, and I don't have time to find a better one.

    *swoons over Sinatra*

See? You old farts do have things to contribute

Val - where did you get that?? That's an Israeli channel - its name is in Hebrew!
Weird... Actually, very weird, because that channel specifically was supposed to be dedicated to Israeli shows...

This next song is half English half Hebrew

HaBanot Nechama - (Being) So Far

I really don't know why that Italian show was broadcast on a Israeli channel, I just searched for "Louis Armstrong - Italian" on Youtube...

    And I think to myself...
I love this song so so so so so (you get it) much.

Op, even when I don't understand a single word of it, I prefer the disco revival video you posted long ago. THAT was so FUCKING amazing.

    They're cool, I like them!
    ...
The music is good. And... it seems that the words rhyme. And... they surely mean something.
    I... guess.
    I just understand the trumpets.

    I like the song!

    Another one?

The Porcupines - We Went Out to Dance

You were born after the disco craze. You didn't have to go from the sublime (Beatles, Stones, Zappa) to the ridiculous (Donna Summer, the reincarnated Bee Gees, "The Hustle"). It was a horrible shock to my system--I didn't like it from the moment it started.

Donna Summer had an amazing set of pipes--I'm not knocking her or the Bee Gees, whose older hits I still enjoy (Massachusetts, How Can You Mend a Broken Heart, etc.). But the obsessive line dancing looked like some weird form of mind control--hip zombies in lockstep with the latest craze.

Sigh. At least it brought back dressy clothes and dances with actual steps.

I didn't do line dancing, but I loved the hot clothes and dancing with one person. These were 80's, yes?

You wouldn't have caught Mr. Thing dead within 50 miles of a disco!

He would have been haunting concert halls, divey Chinese restaurants, and quirky businesses like the gas station/pancake house/tarot reading shop.

Mr. Thing would have been eating gas station pancakes, but he gives no credence to spooky stuff.

Tell me about it, Zelda! Mr. Thing was not very happy when he found out I cleaned his office. He'll feel better when he sees it--I just repacked stuff, didn't throw away much, and dusted and vacuumed.

I've actually seen the gas station/pancake house/tarot reading place. It's on a street corner in the business district of Palo Alto, CA. Or was it Mountain View? I can never remember. But it's definitely there.

Autumn Leaves - "Empty Black Stare"

Through the falling skies of heaven
Across the fields of pagan fire
That has burned throughout the virgin years
Red glowing clouds covers the Eden sky
As the fire dries our tears
The slaughtered souls beyond the reach of God's faith
Now enchanted by the demon flood
Godless rites on a heathen night
Come taste the purest angel blood
And God started killing in despair
His fall from grace with an empty black stare
    With virtues of tempting desire
We crave vengeance for the centuries passed
The cross we kissed no more to deceive
The blackened night inhales the mourning light
    Liberated from the thoughts naive
Come forth and with fire raise a battle
    Never more to be seen
Set the standards for a New World regime
An embracing fire lifts the spirit higher
Taste the sin so delicate so supreme
And God started killing in despair
His fall from grace with an empty black stare

Some of the previous posts reminded me of this movie/song clip with Milla Jovovich...then I was like, "OMG, Milla needs to put out an album!" which she apparently already did, but:
