Comedian John Cleese has been courted by the Czech Republic Olympic committee and will appear in a series of Monty Python inspired TV adverts screened during London 2012. The 71-year-old who ...

The 71-year-old who has a house in Prague began filming at the weekend with the adverts scripted to poke fun at traditional British summer frolickers who wear bowler hats and use sun umbrellas.
It was laughs all round for the Fawlty Towers actor who said he thought the Czech people and the English share a similar sense of humour.
Director Tomas Masin is in charge of the project and a dozen commercials with a strong Monty Python theme will be produced.
Cleese was a star during his own 1972 Python Silly Olympics and had the Pythons competing in some crazy events such as 100m dash for people with no sense of direction, the 3000m steeple chase for people who think they are chickens and the 200m freestyle race for non-swimmers.
Unfortunately Cleese has ruled himself out of attending the games in London next year and those fans hoping to catch a glimpse of the Fierce Creatures star will have to keep an eye out for the Czech adverts due to be released sometime toward the end of the year.
