This past summer Mrs Thing made us aware of Hands Across the Oil, or Hands Across the Sand, something like that. Right now, Mrs Thing has been in a blizzard with all the rest of the Things. We have to help them! They can't even find each other in their own house because of the snow and the mail isn't getting through. Schools are closed. Plows are defeated. We must band together now, Cheeselettes, and form a human chain of frozen hands across the snow. With Hands Across the Snow we can deliver Mrs Thing's mail, hand to hand, directly from the post office to her mailbox. During Hands Across the Snow we can hand Miss Thing over to the school, and the rest of the children in the neighborhood as well. They will be ever grateful. Our Hands Across the Snow needs money. I'll let you know soon, but right now, we just need your hands. We need you to be there with your hands outstretched to the hands of another and together we can beat this snow! We will also use our hands to lift Mrs Thing's spirits, and to pour her some spirits. Now who's gonna help me get up there to the North?
  2.
    You can have my hand.
    I mailed it to you.

    Oh the irony...

    Thank you, Fanny and Possum.

We're expecting up to another foot of snow this Wednesday, at which point the flat snow will be nearly over Possum's head, and the embankments will be nearing 10 feet.

    Dress warmly! LOLOLOLOL!

EXT. Outdoors. Night. Nothing but white can be seen and the faint outline of MrsThing's black mitten waving ever so slowly. Her voice echoes across the sharp stillness.

    Dress warmly now!
    Bahahahaha. Bahahahaha.
    Baha.
    ha.

Forum members turn and look at each other across the magical DSL.

    FANNY
Poor MrsThing. Why doesn't that ass John Cleese rescue her? She's his best fan ever. The bastard! He could send in some nice hot tea.

I seem to remember a call from Ms. Thing's general direction REQUESTING these snow days so Miss Thing's school schedule would have enough snow days in it to allow her to go to England to see the JC review... she did not think it could be done...

Are we second guessing the power of the INTERNET and the Cheesey forum to grant our every wish and desire??

    Hmmmmmmmmmm???

Possum - here's my battery powered hair dryer, point it at the snow drift and melt your way to safety!

Just pucker your lips and blow...

Or, you can borrow my curling iron...

    Lynthingy's curling iron

I always wondered why they don't make heated snow shovels. But then again, ice would take the melted snow place and that would be worse.
  6.
Thank you Lyn *gasp for air*

That curling iron looks like something that dropped out of a spaceship's engine.

How about a salt drifting snowplow? I do not really much much about it but sounds reasonable.

Foote is 50 miles south of Boston, now. Hope she doesn't get lost trying to find the Thing's, but she has beeen there before. She has a lot of Foote friends that will start at the top of the Thing drive and start kicking and dripping salt. Those Feete are a powerful bunch. Most have experience in the Alps and Colorado! They join at the ankles and start a simutaneous kicking action until the snow is cleared. I have no idea how she learned, but, she takes so many road trips, who knows? Probably Interlakin year before last. Maybe Broadway...
Ah, children! Bet Ben is making fast friends with Looney in Tobbago!

50 miles south of Boston is about where my grandmother used to live. Oh, such memories! She had a tiny pink cottage with blood-red roses all over the roof, from a vine she used to cut back to a nubbin every 2 or 3 years. She raised lots of vegetables and canned them and gave us some. There was a tiny amusement park just a short walk from her house. It was called Jolly Cholly's. If I remember right, it had small train for small children, a carousel, and something called The Himalaya--a circular wooden structure with cars that ran up hill and down on rails, like a cross between a really wimpy roller coaster and a carousel. Made the most godawful rattling noises. It also ran backwards! There must have been other rides there, but I've forgotten what they were now. Of course, it was mown down years ago. I don't know what's there now--stores, probably--it was right next to the highway in a commercial district.

I'll pass that on to Foote. They are probably organizing, now, but, since I do not know where you live you will just have to wait until they come...Probably make a lot of thumping noises, so do not be alarmed. She knows Missthing from her visit several summers ago so they will be able to communicate with her. I'll be darned if I can learn that Foote gibberish...FF ooee tt. D no men tun th ger mes, or something like that. I hope it works!

She could probably slide all the way to my house.

What about a Margarita dispensing snow plow?
  8.
You push it through the snow and the Margarita mix goes into the snow and everybody fills their cups with the Margarita slush that's left behind, oh! Strawberry Diaquiri! Anyway, it's free and easy way to get your driveway cleared at least. People fill up with your alcoholic slush. Snowcohol.

I'd rather have a rum and Pepsi plow, but the diesel fuel would probably spoil it.

I think the margharita plow has potential. The salt will keep the ice down and the whole neighborhood will be there to help!
  9.
Thank you! I am known for great ideas like margarita plows. Just never get any backing for it, but yes, the potential is there. I guess I need to shut up. MrsThing's damn snow storm came HERE today, and I drove past wreck after wreck.
The ice was coming down in sheets and sticking to the car windshield and couldn't see without keeping the heat on the windshield at full blast. Went to get out of my car and the door was iced shut. Now that sucked, but what fun! It was going to be a boring day until the winter storm.

Just heard from Ffoote! She and the kids are half a block from the Thing drive...unfortunately they found the margharita plow and have had a little too much slush. Do you have a spot in the basement for a bunch of drunken feet MT? I am really worried. Maybe you have some old shoes or slippers to through down to them. They are all pretty young. Maybe an old shoe bag? Hopefully they will better when the sun comes up!...children!

I can probably find some spare size 8-8.5s (women's size). How many are there? Are they drunk enough to leave toe jam all over the floor?

Weather today: rain and 40. Icicles are falling off the roof--we had so many, and they're almost gone now. Sunday and Monday are supposed to be sunny and above freezing. I'll have to get out my shovel and get at the huge mound in front of the mailbox, which the mailman, God bless him, has been climbing all week in order to deliver our mail.

Snow expected Tuesday, possible storm for Thursday.

Sorry about the ice storm, Fanny. We've had them like that up here, but very rarely.

Yeah, well now we have your damn snow storm again. Would you keep it up there? We don't have snow clothes down here.

I'd love to keep the snow up here! We've missed the last couple of storms and just got some light rain. Now it's unseasonably warm and the snow is melting fast. I even have the windows cracked open to let in some fresh air. I hope we get another blizzard this Thursday!

"Thunder snow" is when there's thunder and/or lightning with the snowstorm. It doesn't happen often, but it is very cool, especially when there's lightning, too. Flashing sparkles all over the place for a few split seconds.

We didn't have any thunder snow here in CT. And now it looks like winter is probably over. No more snow predicted; temps in the upper 30s to upper 40s (about 3C to 9C), plenty of sun. But there's still over a foot of snow in my back yard (I measured), and it's hard enough for all 200+ pounds of me (with my clothes and boots on) to walk on top of.
